In commercial construction, the job isn't done until the paperwork is signed. Without a valid Producer Statement (PS3) for your fire protection, you cannot get your Code of Compliance (CCC).
At Tomar Contracting, we understand the urgency of the construction schedule. We work closely with your Fire Engineers and Project Managers to apply the exact system required, testing the thickness at every stage to guarantee sign-off without delay.

Intumescent coatings look like paint, but act like a shield. When exposed to extreme heat, the coating creates a chemical reaction, swelling up to 50 times its original thickness to form a carbonaceous "char."
This char layer insulates the steel core, preventing it from reaching the critical temperature where it loses structural integrity. This buys precious time for evacuation and gives firefighters a chance to save the building.
Step 1: Analysis & Calculation. We don't guess. We take the Loading Charts provided by your Fire Engineer and calculate the exact Wet Film Thickness (WFT) required for every specific beam size (e.g., 30mins, 60mins, or 90mins FRR).
Step 2: Surface Prep. Adhesion is critical. We ensure the steel is blast-cleaned and primed with a compatible anti-corrosive primer before we start.
Step 3: Application & Testing. We apply the coating using high-pressure airless spray units. During application, we perform continuous WFT gauge tests to ensure we are hitting the micron targets.
Step 4: Topcoating (Aesthetics). Intumescent coating is functional, but usually matte white/grey. We can apply a compatible aesthetic topcoat (in your brand colours) to protect the fire coating from moisture and make the steel look architectural.

Generally, no. The steel usually needs to be taken back to bare metal or a compatible primer to ensure the fire coating reacts correctly. We can assess this on-site.
Our primary focus is structural steel coatings. However, we can often package this with other passive fire works depending on the scope.
