How Much Does Painting Cost in Tauranga?

Every home is different, but we know you need a ballpark figure for budgeting.

  • visualization-check-black.webp Roof Painting: A standard roof restoration (wash, repair, prime, 2x topcoat) typically ranges from $3,500 to $8,000+ depending on the size (m²), pitch (steepness), and rust repairs needed.
  • visualization-check-black.webp Exterior Repaint: A full exterior repaint for a standard 3-bedroom home usually sits between $12,000 and $25,000+. Factors include the cladding type (weatherboard takes longer than plaster), access (scaffolding costs), and the condition of the existing paint.
  • visualization-check-black.webp Interior Repaint: Painting the interior of a 3-bedroom home generally ranges from $8,000 to $15,000+, depending on whether we are doing doors, frames, and ceilings or just walls.

Logistics & Living

Do I need to move out while you paint the interior?

Generally, no. We work room-by-room to minimize disruption. We ask that you move small breakables (vases, photos), but our team will help move the heavy furniture into the center of the room and cover it.

How long does a full exterior paint take?

For an average family home, allow 2–3 weeks. This accounts for the wash, drying time, prep work, and painting. Weather plays a big role, we won't paint if it's raining or humidity is too high.

Do you use subcontractors?

We employ our own staff. On very large commercial projects, we may bring in verified specialists, but for residential work, the team you see is the Tomar team (often supported by our Tauranga and Rotorua branches during peak season).

Technical Questions

My roof is rusted. Do I need to replace it?

Not always. If it is "surface rust," we can treat it with a converter and membrane system to extend its life by 10–15 years. If the rust has eaten through the metal (structural), we will honestly tell you to call a roofer.

My house has lead paint. Is that a problem?

It requires care. We are trained in lead-safe management. We don't dry-sand lead (which creates toxic dust); we use chemical strippers and wet-sanding techniques to remove it safely without contaminating your garden.

Do you fix Gib holes and cracks?

Yes. We are "Stop and Paint" experts. We fix the plasterboard defects first so the final paint finish is flawless.

Painting warranties and payment terms

Warranties & Payment

What warranty do you offer? We provide a 5-Year Workmanship Warranty on top of the manufacturer's product warranty (which is usually 10–15 years from Dulux or Resene). If the paint peels due to our application, we fix it.

What are your payment terms? We typically require a deposit to book your slot and cover materials, with progress payments for larger jobs. The final balance is only due once we have completed the final walk-through and you are happy.
